Words are flying out like
endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass
They slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy
are drifting thorough my open mind
Possessing and caressing me

Well said, I totally agree. Also, I’d like to add that there doesn’t seem to be much help out there for men who are victims of domestic violence. That really bothers me. Domestic violence is such a serious issue, not just for women, but for men as well. People just don’t seem to realize that.In a way, both genders are suffering from idealistic images that have been set upoun is since we were little kids.
Men are supposed to be the big, strong guys who don’t cry and even though some guys are starting to break those boundaries, they are considered pussies, whimps and told that they should go kill themselves, etc.
Women nowadays are supposed to be pretty and look sexy for the guys and the ones who dress differently are called various other names as well.
There are far too many gender stereotypes that exist even to this day, and I think this is what’s making gender equality in Western countries so hard because we still hold onto this ideas about how women and men should be. (The Middle East and other countries is a WHOLE other story and problem)
In a way it seems like everyone is suffering at the hands of sexism but when you really want to come down to it: Gender equality should be about choice. A woman should have the choice to choose whether she wants to be a housewife or a business woman or both. A man should be able to choose to do things without his friends calling him a girl or something. Ultimately, we need to break the boundaries of gender stereotypes and give people the freedom of choice and respect. Men and women should both respect each other as wonderful people who both have equal chances to pursue whatever they like. A man should be able to make the same choices as a woman and visa-versa and both should be able to have the freedom to choose how they live their life and interact with things without derogetory name-calling or other various attacks.
Basically, this is how I see gender equality:
Freedom to choose.
Respecting choice.
Oh and I apologize if this rant made no sense.
Even worse, domestic violance amongst same-sex couples. People don’t seem to believe that it is as serious when it’s a girl abusing another or visa-versa.
I mean, sure, we’ve all talked about another girl behind their back. Everyone gossips. It’s like second nature to us. Is it right? Maybe, maybe not. Probably not, but we do it anyway. Why do girls have to backstab other girls? It’s what we do. Once again, it’s not a good thing, but we do it anyway. The movie Mean Girls was so extremely accurate, it’s crazy. We need to stop being such backstabbers all the time. Guys are better that way. They settle it my fighting. Girls don’t settle things. They sneak behind their backs. It’s damaging to the other girls but we do it anyway. Is it in our nature? Why did we somehow end up doing that? Who knows. But we’re getting older. It’s time to be more mature.
